It’s been a weird couple of years, hasn’t it? The events industry is going through a very unusual situation when couples who are currently waiting for their weddings to finally take place this summer often started planning them before the pandemic started three-plus years ago. And let’s be honest: a lot has changed since then. Not only on a worldwide global scary scale (which we’re not even going to dwell on here), but also on a much more fickle level. Trends have changed, people’s ideas and tastes have evolved, and so have their wishes for their weddings. We’re expecting this summer to be a wedding season unlike any we have seen before until now: there will be much more variety in styles and colors because we’re effectively wrapping three years’ worth of trends into one summer season.

So, with that in mind, what are the trends you’re likely to see take over your Instagram feed this summer, and how long are they likely to stick around for? Let’s take a look.

1. Country chic

An updated version of the 2010s ‘shabby chic’ trend, country chic weddings are somewhat more elevated. Think cut glass vases instead of recycled bottles, opulent florals instead of minimalist bunches of garden flowers. The trend is characterized by soft color palettes, balancing pinks and blues, purples, and touches of yellows. Or monochromatic green for couples who want to add an extra whimsical feel to proceedings.

Who’s the trend for: couples who want a fairytale wedding without too much formality

How long will it stick around: if it’s anything like its shabby ancestor, we’re expecting the trend to stick around for 3 - 5 years

Why we love it: the style provides a backdrop that is relaxed and relatively informal, allowing you and your guests to relax and enjoy your day

2. Minimalism

The trend is characterized by its white and cream color palette and minimal floral arrangements. Couples who are looking to create a minimalist event often opt for ikebana-inspired florals that focus more on the individual beauty of each stem as opposed to the collective style of larger floral installations. Our minimalist couples often opt for the inclusion of large amounts of pillar candles or floating tealights to bring the styling of their event together.

Who’s the trend for: modern couples who want to show off their style

How long will it stick around: it’s a tough one to call because it’s a super distinctive style, but it’s also got an air of eternal style about it. We’re going to sit on the fence for this one and say 2 - 7 years.

Why we love it: it’s different, it makes a statement, and it gives couples the opportunity to break away from tradition.

3. Maximalism

It makes sense to mention this one straight after its opposite: maximalism is all about, well… going all out! We’re talking combining colors, textures, patterns, and layering gorgeous maximalist florals on top. We generally start with colored or patterned tablecloths before adding colored flatware, patterned napkins, and colored glassware to achieve the look. Maximalist ceremonies usually rely heavily on florals to complete their look, and we can add in colored chairs, cushions, and more.

Who’s the trend great for: bold couples who aren’t afraid of color.

How long will it stick around: we reckon this one will be around in its current form for 2 - 5 years, but it will likely evolve into something different but just as bold.

Why we love it: it’s a super fun trend and throws lots of design ‘rules’ out of the window. It’s always nice to play around with color and patterns without having to worry so much about them clashing.

4. Neon disco

We love a good disco ball, and there’s nothing more fun than a wedding that is planned around the party. Neon signs and fluorescent accents started as a trend that we saw brides using a lot in desert locations in Palm Springs and the likes. After filtering onto blogs, the trend has become more widely incorporated into destination weddings here in France. With it being a modern and sill relatively fresh trend, there aren’t any ‘rules’ to follow so we love having fun designing events for couples who want to dance the night away.

Who’s the trend great for: couples who love to party

How long will it stick around: it’s one of those trends that has a moment every decade or so. We’d expect it to stick around for a couple of years.

Why we love it: it’s fun, it’s bold, and it leaves plenty of space for couples to put their stamp on things.

5. Crystal luxe

This is a modern take on classic luxury weddings, where the focus is on lighting, reflection, and opulent florals. We generally recommend white and cream florals for couples who want to achieve this look, and we layer them with heavy use of mirrors and perspex. Candles often feature heavily in these weddings, with white pillar candles often being used in place of floral centerpieces. The pièce de resistance is often a mirrored or white aisle runner which adds a real wow factor to proceedings.

Who’s the trend great for: couples who favor elegance

How long will it stick around: it’s a new take on an old classic, ultra-luxury will always be in style. The details of the trend simply evolve every few years, so we expect it to stick around in this form for 3 - 5 years.

Why we love it: it’s fun, it’s bold, and it leaves plenty of space for couples to put their stamp on things.
